A plug-in hybrid version of the Shanhai Poer luxury pickup truck debuted at the Beijing Auto Show. Great Wall engineers did not reinvent the wheel and adapted the Hi4-T system for the truck, familiar from the Chinese version of the Tank 500 of the same name. The power plant consists of a 2.0-liter turbo-four, an electric motor built into a 9-speed automatic transmission, and a 37-liter battery. ,1 kilowatt-hour.

The Great Wall Shanghai Poer is currently available with a 3.0-litre petrol V6 and a 2.4-litre turbodiesel, while a self-charging HEV version has debuted in Thailand. Now the hybrid will appear in China, but with a different filling: the pickup will have to be charged from an outlet. Claimed fuel consumption is from 2.5 to 10.2 liters per 100 kilometers, depending on the battery charge level.

Interestingly, the hybrid was shown as an example of an off-road version with a snorkel, a winch, an extended body kit and “mud” tires. Even such a truck is capable of driving up to 100 kilometers on electric power, and the total range, taking into account the 75-liter gas tank, will be 780 kilometers. Peak output of the system is up to 408 horsepower and 750 Nm. The all-wheel drive transmission with reduction gear and inter-wheel differential locks has been retained.

The start date for Great Wall Shanghai Poer sales has not yet been announced, but most likely the hybrid will hit the market before the end of the first half of the year. In China, “socket” versions have the opportunity to get numbers faster, so hybrids are gaining popularity in megacities.
