As the Renaissance Insurance survey showed, the highest loyalty rates in Russia belong to the Chery brand, whose cars are re-chosen by 53.6 percent of old customers. Only seven percent of owners switch to other Chinese cars from Chery. Russians remain faithful to Western brands, despite changes in the market, rising prices and difficulties with the availability of spare parts.

In second place in the ranking is Geely with 47.2 percent of customers loyal to the brand and 25 percent of those who switched to other Chinese cars. Third place is occupied by Japanese Subaru. Even though its cars only come through parallel imports, its loyalty rate was 45.5 percent.

As for European brands, Russians are most loyal to German ones. Of all those who bought a BMW before February last year, 41 percent chose the same brand again. Audi was replaced by another Audi 35.5 percent, Mercedes-Benz by Mercedes-Benz – 24.4 percent.

The worst loyalty scores are among Infiniti, Peugeot, Jeep, Ford and Jaguar. Fewer than 10 percent of owners choose them again.

As for the mass-market Renault, Kia and Hyundai, their results are still high and amount to about 30 percent, although the prices of these cars are leading in terms of growth. In general, customer loyalty is more influenced by the availability of models on the secondary market or through parallel imports, as well as the availability of spare parts, insurers noted.

Earlier, Russia predicted another wave of rising prices for cars: by the end of the year, prices will rise by 10-20 percent. Despite this, the market size is still expected to reach one million units, which would be a quarter higher than the 2022 result.
