The JL Wrangler Forums website shared interesting excerpts from the preliminary agreement between Stellantis and members of the UAW (Union of Automotive Workers). Thanks to an internal document, production plans for the main models – Jeep Wrangler, Wagoneer/Grand Wagoneer, Grand Cherokee, and Dodge Durango – have been revealed.

From the document, dated October 28, it follows that the Jeep Wrangler JL series will be produced until 2028. In 2025, the 4xe plug-in hybrid will be updated globally. And the next generation of Wrangler J70 will switch to battery power: in 2028, buyers will be able to choose between a “pure” electric vehicle and a hybrid with a gasoline engine in the form of an extender. There is no mention of a traditional SUV with an internal combustion engine.

The flagship SUVs Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer are not going to retire. However, mid-life cycle in 2025, a hybrid version with an engine as an extender will appear. A fully electric version is planned for 2027. Versions with internal combustion engines will remain in service after 2027.

The same goes for the “related” Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango. SUVs under the Jeep brand will be produced until 2027-2028, restyling will take place in 2024, and the next generation will offer a choice between internal combustion engines and electric motors. Before that, the next generation Dodge Durango will debut in 2026: also with battery power or traditional internal combustion engines.

Representatives for Jeep and Dodge declined to comment. Formally, the document has not entered into force, because UAW workers have yet to confirm the agreement with Stellantis. However, the leak does not contradict the previously announced plans of the American-Italian-French corporation, so the information can be considered reliable.
