Sources say that top managers of Hyundai Motor met with representatives of the American manufacturer of premium electric cars Lucid. According to them, the two companies are close to concluding a deal, as a result of which Lucid will provide an electric motor for the future Genesis convertible – the “marketable” embodiment of the X Concept show car, presented in the fall of 2022 as the last car of the trio of X-concepts.

If the information is confirmed, then this will not be the first collaboration for Lucid with premium-segment automakers. Last year, the company entered into a partnership agreement with Aston Martin, under which it pledged to provide the British with access to its technology for the production of luxury electric vehicles.

For Genesis, the upcoming collaboration will help save on development costs, and for Lucid it will become an additional source of income.

The fact that the convertible has production prospects became known last year. This cannot yet be said about other Genesis X-lines. Before the convertible, the Koreans presented the Concept X two-door gran turismo class, and then the X Speedium coupe. The appearance of the concepts is minimalistic, but the corporate style is preserved.

Lucid declassified the Gravity crossover at the end of last year. The characteristics have not yet been fully disclosed: the car will go on sale only in 2025. It is promised “the most powerful electric motors produced in the world,” a 900-volt architecture, acceleration to “hundreds” in 3.5 seconds and a power reserve of 700 kilometers.
