The range of the new Mercedes-Benz CLE model is gradually expanding: first a coupe and convertible were presented, then a powerful AMG version appeared. And now the first and second have come together – we meet the Mercedes CLE53 AMG Cabriolet, debuting just in time for the beginning of the summer season.
The Mercedes CLE53 AMG Cabriolet has an open body with a soft folding roof – it can be black, gray or red. The roof can be raised or lowered at speeds of up to 60 km/h in just 20 seconds. In addition, the Mercedes CLE53 AMG Cabriolet version stands out with appropriate sporting hints: extended air intakes in the front bumper, an air duct on the hood, a rear bumper with a diffuser.
However, the most important differences relate to technology. The Mercedes CLE53 AMG is equipped with a 3-liter 6-cylinder turbo engine with a power of 449 hp, developing a torque of 560 Nm or even 600 Nm with the function of briefly increasing the turbine boost pressure. There is also a 48-volt starter-generator that helps with starting and can produce an additional 23 hp. power and 205 Nm of torque.
Add a 9-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive system, and you get 0-100 km/h acceleration in 4.4 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h. Or even better when ordering additional AMG packages (paid, of course) – 4.2 seconds and 270 km/h, respectively.
It is worth noting that in the case of the Mercedes CLE53 AMG Cabriolet, the matter was not limited to just increasing power. After all, the car also received an AMG sports suspension, high-performance AMG brakes, and swiveling rear wheels.
The interior of the new product offers a 12.3-inch instrument panel display and a central 11.9-inch display that tilts to avoid glare in the sun – this is a feature of the open Mercedes CLE version and an example of care for the driver and passengers. A similar example is retractable deflectors to reduce drafts in the cabin when driving with the roof open, as well as an “air scarf” with warm air supplied through holes in the front seat headrests.
