It will be one step above the Mokka, writes Autoexpress with reference to Opel CEO Uwe Hochgeschurz. The car will replace the outgoing Crossland with a more recent architecture and may receive the revived name Frontera, under which the frame SUV was produced in the 90s of the last century. However, the new iteration of the Frontera will not be an SUV, but a small crossover designed to compete with the Renault/Dacia Jogger and Duster.

Opel has not yet revealed many details about the crossover, but it can be judged from earlier statements by the head of the brand and recent new products. Most likely, the resurrected Frontera will inherit the design of the brand’s modern models with the brand’s Vizor panel on the front.

The dimensions will be small, but you should expect an impressive trunk volume, since the crossover will be positioned as a family one. A three-row version similar to the Dacia Jogger is also possible. Inside, there will probably be a Pure Panel “cockpit” with a 12-inch virtual instrument panel and a 7- or 10-inch multimedia system display.

The new product will likely be based on the CMP platform of the parent alliance Stellantis, which it will share with Corsa and Mokka. This means that the line of power units will be varied: with gasoline, hybrid and all-electric versions.

The basic Frontera can be equipped with a 1.2-liter turbocharged engine with 99 and 128 horsepower. The alternative would be a 48-volt mild hybrid drive, like the Corsa, and an electric version – possibly with a 134-horsepower electric motor and a 50-kilowatt-hour battery with a rated range of 336 kilometers. Charging from 10 to 80 percent will take about half an hour.

The debut of the crossover should take place in the first half of 2024.
