According to CNBC, the Swedish manufacturer has teamed up with Xingji Meizu, a smartphone developer also owned by Geely, to create the perfect pair for its next electric crossover from scratch. It will be sold with [Polestar 4](https://motor.ru/news/polestar-4-18-04-2023.htm) in China, where the brand relies on manufacturability and digitalization. The car and the gadget intended for it should enter the market in December.

Polestar management is concerned about the imperfect connection between smartphones and cars. So, the brand’s CEO Thomas Ingenlath complained that he was still experiencing difficulties with displaying simple SMS on the screen of the media system.

A specially designed phone on the Meizu FlyMe operating system will be perfectly paired with the car, and therefore there will be no such problems with it. The same OS will be received by the Chinese Polestar 4 itself, unlike machines for Europe and the USA – where they run on the Google OS.

Connecting the two worlds of the car and the smartphone is extremely important for the Chinese market, Ingenlath said. According to him, it is not enough to bring a car with a European design to China: in addition, it is necessary to offer really special technologies.

The smartphone will belong to the premium class to match the Polestar cars. This will be a step forward for Meizu, a major player in the Chinese smartphone market but a mainstream device manufacturer.

Polestar isn’t the only automaker to consider launching its own smartphone. Chinese Nio announced this back in April last year, and, according to Carscoops, may present its own device as early as September.
