In 2024, the legendary Ford Mustang celebrated its 60th anniversary and by this time the new generation of the model had already acquired a lot of modifications. One of the latest was an option for the police, which, however, has nothing to do with the plant – a batch of standard cars for its employees was purchased by the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. The first sports cars have already been delivered to law enforcement agencies and started working on interstate highways.

For the police, local authorities chose a modification with a 5.0-liter gasoline V8 of the Coyote family – the Ford Mustang GT has 480 horsepower in its arsenal, which is sent to the rear axle through a 10-speed automatic transmission.

They didn’t skimp on the GT Performance package, which for $4,995 includes Brembo brakes, an upgraded suspension, a Torsen differential, additional body braces, a modified exhaust system and front towing eyelets. Patrol coupes are finished in gloss black with matte silver side accents and the North Carolina Highway Patrol emblem.

There are no photographs of the interior, but it is obvious that the car has a standard set of special equipment for American police. Police say the cost of the Mustang GT is “comparable to the cost of other vehicles currently in the fleet,” so taxpayers won’t have to worry about cost overruns – a total of 25 Ford sports cars will be purchased.
