The Chinese Cars portal writes that production of the Dongfeng ix7 crossover has begun at the facilities of the Kaliningrad Avtotor, although the plant itself has not announced such a model. Journalists spotted the ix7 in official photographs of Avtotor, which the company shared along with the release about the launch of another Chinese car, the BAIC X7. The publication provides two arguments in favor of its theory.

The previously unannounced model appeared in two official photographs of Avtotor: the pictures show the BAIC X7, the production of which started last week, and in the background you can see a black crossover that has nothing to do with BAIC. “Chinese cars” recognized it as Dongfeng ix7 (letter spelling – Dongfeng Fengon).

The likely partnership between Avtotor and Dongfeng is indirectly confirmed by the fact that at the end of 2022, the Kaliningrad company registered Vostok Wind Rus LLC intended for distribution. This name is not a completely accurate translation of the Dongfeng brand – “east wind”. Thus, the East Wind company is the official distributor of Dongfeng trucks.

The official distributor of Dongfeng passenger cars is Motorinvest, which just last week announced the expansion of its model line in Russia. The list also includes Dongfeng ix7.

Dongfeng ix7 is a seven-seat crossover that is already on sale in China. It is comparable in size to the Exeed VX and has a two-liter engine that develops 231 horsepower. The transmission is a six-speed automatic, and the drive can be front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. On the Chinese market, the model costs from 125.9 to 215.9 thousand yuan (1.6-2.7 million rubles).

Officially, the production of Dongfeng ix7 at the Kaliningrad Avtotor was not confirmed at the time of writing the news – neither Avtotor itself nor Motorinvest commented on the information.
