The senators emphasized that the popularity of cars from the Middle Kingdom has grown many times over the past year. At the same time, the chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Economic Policy, Andrei Kutepov, said that Russia still maintains a low level of localization of Chinese vehicles. The official emphasized that the authorities are already working on a number of necessary bills.
From January to October 2023, more than 112 thousand passenger cars were sold in Russia, which is 2.6 times more than the same period last year. The share of Chinese cars increased from eight to 50 percent in the first nine months. The Federation Council stated that this volume of transport is practically not produced in the country. At the same time, the level of localization is a key aspect affecting the price.
Currently, the authorities are working on a number of bills that “will create conditions for systemic saturation of the market” with cars assembled in Russia. According to officials, localization of production will allow selling up to 50 thousand cars annually. At the same time, the Federation Council noted that Russia will also welcome other countries that want to launch car production on the territory of our state.
In mid-November, it became known that the enterprise’s facilities in the Ulyanovsk region would begin producing parts for Haval cars. Currently, the plant has begun to modernize its equipment.
