Ford is preparing a hybrid version of the Mondeo sedan for China with record efficiency

The American automaker Ford has begun testing a hybrid modification of its Mondeo sedan on the Chinese market. The first spy photos of the pre-production car appeared at the disposal of the local Autohome portal. It is expected that the new version will have even lower fuel consumption compared to its gasoline counterparts.

Details of the technical stuffing have not yet been disclosed, but it is likely that the hybrid Mondeo will inherit the installation from the Edge crossover with a 1.5-liter gasoline engine, an electric motor and a CVT instead of a manual transmission. This scheme promises significant fuel savings, especially in the urban cycle. Externally, the new modification will be distinguished by unique 19-inch alloy wheels of an aerodynamic design. In addition, the hybrid Mondeo can receive the ST-Line sports package, previously available only for expensive 2.0-liter engines.

The estimated price of the hybrid sedan will be about 200 thousand yuan or 28 thousand dollars. This is more expensive than the basic versions, but an adequate price for outstanding efficiency. Sales of the Ford Mondeo Hybrid in China are scheduled to begin this winter. (photo: Autohome.com)
