The new product was announced for the European market back in mid-November, but the technical characteristics of the “mild hybrid” installation of the model were not disclosed then. Now it has become known that the 2.8-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel has received an electrical add-on in the form of a 48-volt generator: it helps the engine in the first seconds of acceleration and gives a short-term increase in power – 16 horsepower. The Hilux Hybrid will go on sale in Europe in mid-2024.

The Japanese pickup truck will be available in the European market exclusively with a double cab and a hybrid powertrain. This Hilux will consume five percent less fuel than a conventional diesel pickup, including through an improved start-stop system. The diesel engine, which was supplemented with a motor-generator, complies with the Euro 6d environmental class and develops 204 horsepower (500 Nm).

For the first time, the Multi-terrain Select system has become available for Hilux, which allows you to configure stabilization systems depending on specific conditions. In addition to custom settings, there are five presets: Mud, Sand, Mud, Deep Snow and Rocks, which are calibrated for better traction and maneuverability.

The hybrid Hilux will be part of the Toyota Professional commercial line-up in the European market. In addition to the pickup truck, it includes the ProAce City heel, the ProAce mid-size van and the ProAce Max lorry.
