The Australian publication Drive ahead of time posted high-quality images taken by the press service of the Japanese brand. There are no secrets left: the sixth generation Subaru Forester is available in rich Touring and Sport trim levels, both with proprietary symmetrical all-wheel drive. The crossover’s exterior and interior changes are evolutionary, but there are no common details with its predecessor.

Subaru took a very conservative approach to the development of the “sixth” Forester: the crossover never got full LED optics, a digital instrument panel and a fashionable multifunction steering wheel with touch buttons. The proportions are different: the overhangs have increased, which promises a loss of some off-road capabilities. But it is expected that the interior and trunk will become more spacious. There are no exact dimensions yet.

Design innovation – integrated headlights and taillights. The front optics have retained their complex shape, but now the headlights seem to fit into the radiator grille. At the rear, the composite lights remain, but the full-width plate of the fifth door is not functional. The Sport version features a bronze decor, but all Foresters have a practical plastic body kit around the perimeter of the body, roof rails and 19-inch alloy wheels.

In the cabin, the climate control unit has disappeared; two screens are a thing of the past: now there is one tablet with a portrait orientation, familiar from the Impreza. However, Subaru has retained analog buttons almost everywhere: the multifunction steering wheel, the light control, and even the multimedia system hot keys can be used with gloves. The interior is very conservative: dial gauges, an old-fashioned fixed transmission selector, open cup holders.

The public premiere of the Subaru Forester will take place on November 16 at the Los Angeles Auto Show. Judging by the photographs, under the hood of the North American version will remain a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated engine in conjunction with a V-chain variator. Full details are expected at the end of next week.
