In the world of drag racing, some of the most interesting races are those where representatives of the same model, but of different generations and different modifications, meet on the same track. Bloggers from the popular Carwow channel continued the series of such races, this time collecting four generations of the Mazda MX-5 roadster and making a comparison of the cult model. The first two generations of the roadster are equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission, the last two are equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission.

The Mazda MX-5 Miata has been in production for more than 30 years and during this time it has become the most popular car in its class in the world. Over the course of its history, the roadster has gone through four generations, which have changed both externally and technically.

The first-generation Mazda Miata NA is powered by a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 131 horsepower and 152 lb-ft of torque from a 990-kilogram weight package. The NB version model has a similar engine, but with 146 horsepower and 168 Nm, but the roadster also weighs more than a ton – 1065 kilograms.

The third generation NC is equipped with a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine producing 160 horsepower and 188 Nm, and with a weight of 1100 kilograms, it is the heaviest car in the race. The newest ND Roadster has a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine with 184 hp and 205 Nm – it’s the most powerful Mazda MX-5 in the race, and it weighs 1,030 kilograms.
