Member of the Federation Council Dmitry Vorona proposed reviving the Zaporozhets brand

In Russia, they are again talking about the revival of the legendary Zaporozhets automobile brand. This idea was voiced by Senator Dmitry Vorona, who proposed launching the production of a modern version of the iconic “people’s car.”

According to a member of the Federation Council, the new Zaporozhets should become a vehicle accessible to the general population, just like its predecessor in the Soviet years. To do this, production must be organized in a full cycle in Russia. This will avoid problems with imported components that designers often encountered in the past. The senator considers it expedient to revive the Kommunar automobile plant in Zaporozhye, where the production of the first Zaporozhets was established in the 1960s. Other famous Soviet cars were subsequently created at its production facilities.

It is not yet clear whether the new model will be based on the original Soviet design or created on the basis of a modern Chinese analogue. In any case, according to Vorona, the revived Zaporozhets will be in demand among Russian car enthusiasts who are nostalgic for the legendary brand.
