A family of new generation Arctic buses is being developed in the Urals

The Ural automobile plant in the city of Miass has begun developing a fundamentally new line of buses for operation in the extreme conditions of the Arctic and the Far North. As stated by the general director of the company, Pavel Yakovlev, initially the lineup will include three vehicles, including an all-wheel drive road train.

The first modification of the Arctic bus was created on the basis of a two-volume crew transport with a separate body and cabin. The second option turned out to be more compact due to the single-volume layout. And in the road train being developed, all 10 wheels, including the semi-trailer, will be driven. The main design features of the new models are the ability to work at -50 degrees and cross-country ability on virgin snow. For this purpose, wide-profile tires with low pressure and a powerful 310-horsepower engine are used. The bus is also designed for 22 passengers with individual USB sockets and wireless charging of gadgets.

According to the creators, Arctic buses should provide year-round and safe transportation in the harshest regions of the country. Their main customers will be government agencies, mining and scientific companies in the Far North and the Arctic. The production of new cars in the Urals is expected to start by the end of 2024. By the way, this is not the last news from the URAL automobile plant. It became known earlier that the company will increase production of its models due to the fact that they are in steady demand.
