We are talking about an eight-valve 1.8 with an output of about 90 horsepower. Apparently, this will be a derivative of the 1.8 Evo engine presented the day before for Vesta. The Evo prefix means deep modernization with adaptation to the Chinese CVT. According to AvtoVAZ, the engine uses 25 new components.

According to Motor, the Lada Niva SUV (which one is not specified) will receive a 1.8-liter engine. The eight-valve unit will develop about 90 horsepower. For comparison: today the regular Niva Travel and Niva Legend are equipped with a 1.7 engine with an output of 83 horsepower. But the 16-valve 1.8 on the Niva Sport produces 122 horsepower.

Apparently, the new engine will be a derivative of West’s 1.8 Evo. It features 25 new components: “stickless” pistons, fuel injectors with 30 percent increased performance, new polyamide fuel pipes and much more. The power is the same – 122 horsepower.

In December, AvtoVAZ will release a batch of 25 Vesta cars with 1.8 Evo and a CVT, but not for sale, but for the needs of the plant. Serial production will begin in January 2024, and by the end of the year the assembly of cars with a new engine and “mechanics” will begin in Togliatti.

It was previously reported that the CVT, which will be paired with the 1.8 Evo engine, was made in China. According to insiders, this is a gearbox from WanLiYang (WLY), and its full name is WanLiYang CVT18.
