The automaker acknowledged that eight-cylinder versions produced between September 4 and October 10, 2023 had a defect in the oil cooler mounting hoses. The problem could cause the threads on the stud to become damaged, the fastening to weaken, and “significant amounts of engine oil to leak onto the road surface.” The malfunction will affect the most expensive Range Rover P530.

Land Rover says 1,520 luxury SUVs were affected, but there are no reports of accidents, injuries or fires caused by oil leaks. How a loose oil cooler hose will affect the lubrication of the demanding 4.4-liter BMW engine is not specified: there are probably no cases of oil starvation either.

From January 2024, Land Rover dealers will begin notifying owners of problematic Range Rovers. The technicians will check the fastenings of the oil radiator pipes and, if necessary, replace them. So far, the recall campaign only affects cars for the North American market assembled at the Solihull plant (UK).

Before this, Land Rover recalled new Range Rovers at least twice: once due to a defect in the 3.0-liter inline petrol engines, and another time owners had to be disturbed due to the sudden deployment of airbags.
