In the summer of 2023, at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering in the United States, the premiere of the most extreme car in the modern Maserati model line took place – the brand officially presented the Maserati MCXtrema supercar, which was created with an eye to operation on the race track. The 730-horsepower track supercar is being prepared for small-scale production and the company has already begun driving tests of the new product. It is built on the basis of the Maserati MC20, but structurally and in design it has little in common with the road coupe.

The new product is built on the basis of the Maserati MC20, but structurally and in design it has little in common with the road coupe – it is based on a lightweight carbon fiber monocoque with an integrated safety cage and a completely redesigned body with aggressive aerodynamics.

The car is driven by a significantly modernized 3.0 V6 Nettuno petrol engine, which produces 730 horsepower on the track model. The Maserati MCXtrema will be limited to 62 units and all of them have already been sold out. Assembly of the supercar will begin in the second half of 2024, and deliveries of the track model to customers are scheduled for the fall.

In the meantime, the right to drive the new car was given to the famous Italian racer Andrea Bertolini, who became the first FIA GT1 World Championship champion at the wheel of the Maserati MC12 GT1, and has since been the official test driver of the Italian brand. The Maserati MCXtrema was tested at the Varano de Melegari circuit on asphalt flooded with heavy rain.
