The American brand has revealed details about the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer 2024 model year. Now the only engine will be the inline 3.0-liter Hurricane twin-turbo six. On the Jeep Wagoneer, the engine will develop 426 horsepower and 635 Nm of torque, on the Grand Wagoneer – 506 horsepower and 678 Nm of torque. Compared to the V8 Hemi, efficiency is increased by 15 percent.

For two years, body-on-frame full-size Jeep SUVs were available with a V8 Hemi. The regular Wagoneer was offered with a 5.7-liter unit (397 horsepower, 548 Nm), and a 6.4-liter naturally aspirated engine (477 horsepower, 617 Nm) was available for the Grand Wagoneer. At first, a naturally aspirated V8 was the only option, but since last year, an inline-six has been offered as an option on long-wheelbase versions.

Now you don’t have to choose a power plant: a turbo engine is the only possible choice. The automatic transmission with torque converter remains unchanged. The Jeep Wagoneer still has three types of all-wheel drive transmission: either an option with a conventional front clutch (Quadra-Trac I), or a more serious system with a reduction gear (Quadra-Trac II), or an “off-road” assembly with an electronically controlled locking rear differential, Quadra-Drive II .

There are now two V8 Hemi-equipped Jeep models available to order in the US: the Grand Cherokee L SUV and the Wrangler Rubicon 392. They are also nearing the end of their life cycles. The American brand is also getting rid of diesel engines: a countdown has started for Gladiator pickups running on “heavy” fuel.
