A Swiss dealer has started selling the defunct Peugeot 208 Rallye. The hatchback celebrates the 40th anniversary of the 205 and is styled after the 205 Rallye. It has white steel wheels, the body is decorated with stripes in the colors of the Peugeot Talbot Sport division, but the engine is standard – a 1.2 turbocharged engine with 101 horsepower. Such a car costs 24,500 Swiss francs, which corresponds to 2.5 million rubles.

Garages Hotz, the official dealer of Peugeot, Citroen and DS in Switzerland, has released a homage version of the Peugeot 205 Rallye. The new product is called 208 Rallye and is based on a pre-restyling hatchback with a 1.2 PureTech turbocharged engine (101 hp, 205 Nm) and a six-speed manual transmission. The car was valued at 24,500 francs, or 2.5 million rubles. A regular 208 with the same engine will cost more than four thousand less, but it will not have the “rally” decor and “limited” status.

The 208 Rallye won’t be hard to get noticed. Where else can you see white steel wheels, stripes in the colors of the Peugeot Talbot Sport division, 208 Rallye lettering on the rear roof pillars and red accents throughout the cabin. Halogen headlights with a characteristic yellowish glow also add nostalgic notes. Stylistically, the transformation was certainly a success. However, ideologically the 205 Rallye was still completely different.

The hatchback was positioned as a cheaper alternative to the 205 GTI. It had suspensions and brakes from the older version, and the engine, “bored” to 1.3 liters, produced 103 horsepower and 120 Nm of torque (the 1.6 engine on the GTI developed 117 hp). Almost all sound insulation, electrics and unnecessary options were removed from hatchbacks. The result is a mass of 794 kilograms and a truly driving character, which was not so easy to cope with. Such cars were produced from 1988 to 1992. The total circulation was just over 30 thousand copies.
