If the car’s handling deteriorates, it pulls to the side when moving and the power decreases, there is a high probability that it is time to perform a wheel alignment. There are a lot of rumors about the frequency of this procedure and its necessity. The owner of a tire repair shop dispelled the three main ones and told us when there is no need to do a check when changing tires during the season.

If the sets of winter and summer tires do not differ in size, the procedure is not necessary. You only need to go for a wheel alignment if you are installing larger or smaller tires for the summer.

The expert noted that each manufacturer sets its own values for wheel angles. If they are violated, not only problems with vehicle handling appear, but also increased wear of the tires on one side, which will lead to the need to replace them.

Some owners believe that they can make the adjustment themselves. However, the expert notes that this can only be done with special knowledge, and even better, equipment.

A common misconception is that there is no need to do a wheel alignment if only original spare parts were used during the repair of the steering and suspension system. In fact, the procedure should be performed with any intervention in these units, since the wheel angles can change significantly and this will cause discomfort while driving.
