This follows from Autostat statistics for the second spring month of 2024. According to the report, 51 percent of all passenger cars sold in April were made by three brands – Lada, Haval and Chery. Moreover, Lada’s share exceeds 30 percent. In total, 137,047 cars were sold last month: this is 81.2 percent more than in April 2023, but 6.5 percent less than in March 2024.
In April, Lada sold 42,270 passenger cars, which is 67.2 percent more than last year’s figure for the same month. The Russian brand maintains leadership in the market with a large gap over the “Chinese”. Haval, in turn, completed the second month of spring with a result of 14,586 cars sold – compared to 2023, sales increased by 113.6 percent. Chery was in third place – Russians bought 12,867 cars of this brand (+38.9 percent).
Another Chinese company, Geely (11,479 units, +61.5 percent), surpassed the mark of 10 thousand cars sold. Next came Changan (8,437 units), Omoda (4,819 units), Exeed (4,422 units) and Jetour (3,131 units). In addition to them, the Belarusian-Chinese Belgee and Tank were in the top 10, the results of which were 3,005 and 2,409 vehicles sold, respectively. Of the listed brands, the leader in growth rates was Changan, which, against the backdrop of a low base in 2023, increased sales by 5.7 times.

As for the rating by model, the top five is as follows: Lada Granta (19,421 units), Lada Vesta (13,276 units), Haval Jolion (6,112 units), Lada Niva Travel (5,044 units) and Niva Legend (4501 pcs.). Of note, the Geely Monjaro, which previously sold better than the Niva family, dropped to ninth place in the ranking (its result was 3,302 units), and the Haval M6 rose to 10th place (3,235 units).
Well, if we talk about sales of new passenger cars in the first four months of 2024, they amounted to 467,739 units. This is 89.4 percent more than in January–April 2023.
