The Celestial Empire published official photos of the Leopard 5 SUV from the premium brand Fang Cheng Bao. The Chinese new product does not amaze with its originality, but all the components of a luxurious and brutal SUV are there: exquisite finishing materials, an abundance of touch screens, a large panoramic roof, deliberately large analog keys, grippy handles and angular door cards.

The BYD concern immediately considered the current Mercedes-AMG G 63 as a benchmark for Leopard 5. In terms of interior design, the German SUV was surpassed: the media system resolution is 2.5K, the touchscreen diagonal is 15.6 inches, and in front of the passenger there is a separate 12.3-inch touch screen . The “Chinese” is also deprived of a central tunnel, and therefore there is more space.

Fans of analog keys have not been forgotten: the transmission selector, driving mode selection buttons, and lock activation toggle switches are made so that they are easy to use with gloves. The central tunnel is generally designed in the spirit of army vehicles: the “civilian” purpose of the Leopard 5 is reminded by a scattering of USB connectors, wireless charging, a Devialet audio system with 18 speakers and cup holders.

Structurally, BYD’s new product is not similar to the Mercedes-AMG G 63, although it has a lot in common: for example, both SUVs are framed, with three differential locks. The power plant is different: the Chinese relied on a hybrid system based on a 1.5-liter turbo engine, and all-wheel drive is implemented through electric motors with a peak power of 680 horsepower. The Leopard also has a fully independent hydraulic suspension with a ground clearance adjustment function.

There is no doubt that the BYD all-terrain vehicle will be more economical than the Gelika, because the declared range is 1,200 kilometers. The price of the “Chinese” will be much lower: it is expected that Leopard 5 will cost no more than 400 thousand yuan (equivalent to 55 thousand dollars or 5.4 million rubles).
