In 2023, Fiat revived the Topolino microcar as a tiny electric car. The original car was produced from 1936 to 1955, and the current version is officially an electric quadricycle and is positioned as a vehicle for beach trips. And this electric car received a new version, which is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Disney and its perhaps the main symbol – the anthropomorphic mouse Mickey Mouse. The connection between the character and the car is in the name.

Topolino is Mickey Mouse in Italian. This nickname was given to the original Fiat 500 in the 1930s. At the Casa 500 exhibition at Pinacoteca Agnelli, the premiere of four exclusive quadricycles from factory designers Fiat Centro Stile and one from Disney artist Cavazzano, who created a festive quadricycle design in honor of his employer’s anniversary, premiered.

The designers of the Italian automaker decided to reflect four themes – historical, modern, street and abstract – in their works. Monochrome Topolino is inspired by the graphics of Walt Disney’s first sound cartoon, Steamboat Willie, which became one of the exhibits at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

Inspired by modern art, the quadricycle features a pattern featuring Mickey Mouse’s initials, conveying the positive energy and optimism of Fiat and Disney products. Topolino’s abstract livery pays homage to the way cartoonists update classic stylistic elements through abstract graphic strokes and symbols. The street art-themed Fiat is styled to resemble urban Mickey Mouse graffiti.
