Spy shots of the five-door, which will replace the A4 Avant, have been circulated on social networks. The German company has left conservative interiors in the past: this time Audi will implement the ideas of the Skysphere concept car into a production car. There is a huge curved display in front of the driver, a separate wide-screen touchscreen for the passenger, the central tunnel and the multifunction steering wheel have been redesigned.

According to preliminary data, the name Audi A4 will remain with “pure” electric cars, and the families of fuel-powered A4 and A5 will be united under the “senior” index. The future of the sedan is in question: the A5 will probably be offered in the form factor of a station wagon (Avant) and a liftback (Sportback). And although there are enough differences in the exterior, the main revolution will occur in the cabin.

Audi has taken advantage of developments from two years ago: the interior architecture of the production A5 Avant is almost the same as that of the Skysphere concept roadster. The curved display is reminiscent of the BMW iDrive 8 system, but Audi engineers have increased the size of the virtual panels. The passenger touchscreen is classic rectangular. The hot keys remain in the center, and the driving mode selector is still miniature.

From the outside, the new station wagon is most easily recognized by its reverse-grip door handles. Optics in the spirit of all modern Audis. The fuel filler flap has become noticeably larger. Insiders believe that the new A5 Avant will retain four-cylinder turbo engines with a moderate-hybrid “makeweight”, but the line will be replenished with at least two rechargeable hybrids. Partial unification of power plants with the Volkswagen Passat and Skoda Suberb is likely.

The premiere of the Audi A5 Avant is expected in the first half of 2024. There are no official details, but we can expect the fuel version to arrive before the comparable A4 Avant electric car.
