Over the past nine months of 2023, the Kama Automobile Plant produced more than three thousand KamAZ-54901, which is 2.5 times more than during the same period in 2022. If we compare the results of last month with September 2022, the growth is even more impressive – four times, from 150 to 600 units. However, in the market, the K5 lags behind other models and does not reach the “top”, which is dominated by Chinese trucks.

KamAZ managed to resume production of K5 long-haul tractors (aka KamAZ-54901) in September 2022. Before this, their production was put on a forced pause: the sanctioned plant had to look for alternative suppliers of components that had previously been ordered from Europe. The first import-substituted K5 rolled off the assembly line in February 2023.

In June, the head of KamAZ, Sergei Kogogin, reported that the plant would produce from 7.5 thousand to 8.5 thousand K5 this year. If you follow this plan, in the remaining two months you need to assemble from 4.5 to 5.5 thousand cars.

In the brand standings, KamAZ remains in first place: in September it sold 2,566 vehicles. However, the gap with its closest rival, the Chinese Sitrak, is narrowing. His result is 2215 units per month. In the model rating, the Sitrak C7H is in the lead, followed by the Chinese FAW J6, Foton Auman, Shacman SX331 and FAW J7. KamAZ shares fifth place with FAW, but not with K5, but with the three-axle KamAZ-43118 (K3 generation).

Next year KamAZ will begin producing trolleybuses. This is KamAZ-62825 with a constant power supply system, the autonomous travel of which will be 20 kilometers. Test operation will take place in Cheboksary.
