Brand chief Stephanie Wurst confirmed to Autocar that although at the presentation of the Cooper electric car they only talked about a three-door hatchback, in fact there will be both a five-door version and a convertible in the range. Thus, contrary to rumors, in the next generation MINI will even offer more modifications than in the current one. But Ms. Wurst did not confirm plans to revive the MINI Paceman.

The successor to the classic MINI debuted at the beginning of September at the Munich exhibition. The model was again called Cooper, and only the three-door version was shown at the presentation, although for many years buyers could overpay for a two-door convertible or a five-door hatchback. There will be a choice this time too.

It’s not said directly, but it looks like both the five-door and the open version will be available with both an electric and a gasoline engine. The modernized MINI with a turbo engine has not yet been shown: the presentation is expected within six months. “Charged” versions of the JCW will remain only for electric vehicles, and a manual transmission for small cars will no longer be offered.

Stephanie Wurst did not confirm rumors about the revival of Paceman in the electric crossover format: the top manager emphasized that “the MINI line cannot be difficult to understand.” For the same reason, the Urbanaut minivan prototype will not go into production. “Simplicity and ease of understanding [ассортимента] – required condition [развития бренда] MINI,” emphasized the head of the brand.
