The company presented the forerunner of the fourth generation Twingo: this is a five-door hatchback with a “cartoon” design – semicircles of running lights give it a resemblance to a cartoon character and at the same time refer to the model of the same name from the 90s of the last century. The show car demonstrates several unusual solutions at once: it has round door handles and a three-section indicator placed on the hood that shows the battery charge level.

The history of Renault Twingo began in 1992: in its debut year, the compact hatchback sold 200 thousand copies in Europe. The second generation entered the market in 2007, and the third generation appeared already in 2014, and Renault worked on it together with Daimler. Now the fourth generation has been confirmed for the model – it should be expected in 2026. In the meantime, Renault offers to consider the concept of a future electric city car.

The new Twingo is expected to be based on the AmpR Small platform (aka CMF-BEV), which will also underpin Renault’s other electric hatchback, the revived Renault 5, which should go on sale next year. It is also known about the “fourth” Twingo that it will consume energy economically: 10 kilowatt-hours per 100 kilometers. The company has not yet provided any other details about the electric car.

Renault expects to keep the price of the Renault Twingo at 20 thousand euros (1.9 million rubles at the current exchange rate). For comparison, the “older” Renault 5 will cost about 25 thousand euros (2.4 million rubles). However, there are still more than two years before the model enters the market, so these are only preliminary forecasts.
