Hennessey Performance, which is famous for its powerful cars based on models of American brands, organized a drag race between two models. To compete with the standard Ford F-150 Lightning with an electric power plant, the tuners from Texas chose the Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat, equipped with a package of improvements of their own design. This made it possible to clearly evaluate the difference between a factory electric car and a car from an independent tuning studio.

The Dodge Durango SUV in the third generation of the model for the first time in its history acquired the SRT Hellcat version with a 720-horsepower 6.2-liter Hemi V8 compressor with a drive supercharger. The H1000 package involves a comprehensive modification of the power unit and an increase in its parameters to 1000 horsepower and 1314 Nm of torque per 2592 kilograms.

On the track at the Pennzoil Proving Ground, American tuners brought their creation together with a stock Ford F-150 pickup truck, which in the Lightning version has two electric motors. On the test unit they produce 580 horsepower and 1050 Nm of torque.

The parameters compared to its rival are not particularly outstanding – especially since due to the 130 kilowatt-hour battery, the weight of the all-wheel drive Ford F-150 is almost three tons. As a result, the race turned out to be spectacular, but not particularly correct – the electric car is heavier than its opponent, and has almost half the power and less torque. However, for Hennessey Performance this hardly matters – they promote their creations without regard to objectivity.
