2023 marks the end of the 20-year history of the Audi R8 supercar, which formally began in 2003 with the debut of the Audi Le Mans Quattro concept car. The production version of the prototype appeared in 2006, and in 2015 the second generation of the Audi R8 coupe and roadster appeared. The swan song of the iconic Audi model should now be the project of the famous German tuning studio ABT Sportsline. The company has already published a teaser of a promising model on social networks.

The history of the studio from Kempten goes back more than a hundred years, dozens of which ABT Sportsline specialists work with cars of the Volkswagen Group – in particular, with Audi models. Sports cars from Ingolstadt are also being prepared by tuners for racing, and in 2023, to bid farewell to the Audi R8, a crazy project is being prepared – a road version of the racing Audi R8 GT2.

The German tuning studio published a teaser on its social networks, in which the peace and tranquility of the forest is disrupted by the roar of the engine of the new ABT XGT supercar. According to available data, the new product will be an R8 GT2 adapted for public roads – it was the prototype of this car that spies caught at the Nordschleife, but then it was considered a factory version of the coupe.

It is expected that the ABT XGT will receive a 650-horsepower 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10, a redesigned suspension, a lightweight interior and an aggressive aerodynamic body kit. Whether this is true or not will become known on November 23, 2023, when the official premiere of the new project will take place.
