The release of the Lada X-Cross 5 crossover is in jeopardy due to US sanctions

The fate of the new Lada X-Cross 5 model hangs in the balance. American sanctions threaten to disrupt the release of the Tolyatti auto giant’s long-awaited crossover. Cooperation with the Chinese concern FAW was in danger of breaking down.

The fog over AvtoVAZ is thickening. The planned start of the Lada X-Cross 5 assembly line may be stopped at any moment. Gazeta.Ru warns about this. The Russian automaker came under sanctions restrictions. Under these conditions, the release of Chinese cars with the Lada logo is fraught with risks. According to some reports, a batch of X-Cross 5 is already ready, the fate of which is now unclear.

The chances of seeing a new product on domestic roads are less than 50%, Gazeta.Ru believes. This is indirectly confirmed by the advertising campaign of the FAW Bestune T77 donor model in China. If this car had gone on sale with the Lada logo, it would have been removed from the FAW lineup. JAC and Moskvich previously followed this scenario when producing converted cars with Russian symbols. FAW risks a drop in sales in Southeast Asia due to cooperation with Togliatti. Profits on Asian markets are not comparable to the possible revenue from the deal with Lada. (photo: Lada)
