ZDX became not only the first mass-produced electric model of Acura, but also the most powerful crossover in the history of the Japanese brand. The novelty debuted in two versions, regular and “charged” Type S, and the latter received a twin-engine unit with a capacity of 507 horsepower. The premiere of the ZDX took place at Monterey Car Week, and the electric car will reach American dealers early next year. According to preliminary data, the model will cost from 60 thousand dollars (5.6 million rubles at the current exchange rate) to 70 thousand for the ZDX Type S.

ZDX is the production version of last year’s Precision EV concept, and the name for the model was borrowed from the recent past of the Japanese brand: under this name, a cross-coupe with a V6 engine was produced under this name in 2009-2013.

Now the ZDX is an all-electric crossover built on a General Motors trolley with an Ultium battery. It has a embossed hood, spectacular lighting on the “stub” installed instead of the radiator grille and repeating its shape, as well as a “floating” roof, which is crowned with a fin antenna. The light signature of the daytime running lights follows the Integra.

For the model, rims with a dimension of 20 or 22 inches, a Bang & Olufsen audio system with 18 speakers instead of the usual Panasonic ELS and various Google services: Google Assistant, Google Maps and others are announced for the model. Inside, there is an 11-inch virtual instrument panel, and in the center there is an 11.3-inch screen of the multimedia system.

The ZDX is equipped with a 102 kilowatt-hour lithium-ion traction battery that can travel 523 kilometers under the EPA cycle on a single charge. There will be several modifications to choose from: a standard one with a single 345-horsepower electric motor in the rear wheel drive, a twin-engine with a power reserve of about 500 kilometers (its power has not yet been given) and a “charged” ZDX Type S, which has two electric motors with a total output of 507 horsepower .

The ZDX is Acura’s first step towards full electrification. According to the development strategy of the Japanese brand, the main market for which remains the United States, by 2040 the model line will consist exclusively of electric vehicles.
