The teaser video, which Alfa Romeo published on social networks banned in Russia, showed the coordinates of several places: the Balocco test site, the Stelvio Pass, the Arese Museum and, surprisingly, the Brenner Pass. This is surprising because earlier this year the head of the company, Jean-Philippe Imparato, denied that the brand’s new model could be called Brennero. However, Western journalists are now leaning towards this option.

The Brennero name is tipped for the Alfa Romeo crossover, which will be unified with the Jeep Avenger and Fiat 600. The model will be based on the STLA Small platform (aka CMP/eCMP): the crossover will have versions with fuel and all-electric power plants. The electric version will most likely receive one electric motor with a capacity of 156 horsepower and a battery with a capacity of 54 kilowatt-hours, which will be enough for 400 kilometers of autonomous range.

The version with an internal combustion engine, in turn, will be equipped with a 1.2-liter petrol turbocharger, which is known from models of other brands that are part of the Stellantis concern. This unit has recently entered its third generation and is used as part of hybrid installations.

The name Brennero is not the only option voiced by Western journalists. For example, in September of this year, the news about the new Alfa Romeo crossover featured the name Sebring, and even earlier – Junior, that is, “junior”. This is logical, since in the hierarchy of the brand the SUV is assigned a step below the Tonale.
