In 2023, the 20-year history of the Audi R8 ends, which formally began in 2003 with the debut of the Audi Le Mans Quattro concept car, which was transformed into a production model in 2006. The car changed generations only once – this happened in 2015 – but both generations of the Audi R8 coupe and roadster acquired a lot of modifications. The brightest of them became the heroes of the farewell video for Audi R8: The Last Lap, designed to pay tribute to the model.

Fans of the supercar from Ingolstadt were invited to contribute to the creation of the video by choosing which modifications of the Audi R8 should be the heroes of the video, in which locations they should be filmed, what the storyline and soundtrack should be. As a result, four versions of the supercar appeared in the video.

The heroes of the video are the first generation coupe – the Audi R8 with a 420-horsepower 4.2-liter V8 and a 6-speed manual transmission, and the 560-horsepower Audi R8 GT with a 5.2-liter V10. The second generation supercar was presented by the 610-horsepower Audi R8 performance quattro and the extreme Audi R8 GT RWD with a similar engine.

Danish racer Tom Christensen got behind the wheel of the cars, performing stunts in different locations. “Mr. Le Mans” achieved his main racing successes on Audi prototypes, including the R8, the sports version of which, however, has nothing in common with the road car except the name.
