A small series of Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR was built in the late 1990s to homologate the FIA GT championship racing car. They were in many ways similar to the “combat” CLK GTR, but were more suitable for driving on regular roads – 28 supercars were built, including two prototypes. But even fewer roadsters were made – and one of the six copies of the Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR Roadster was sold at the RM Sotheby’s auction in Las Vegas during the Formula 1 stage.

Equipped with a 612-horsepower 6.9-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine, the roadster has traveled only 170 kilometers since its release in 2002. The car, in almost perfect factory condition, was offered along with a set of original luggage bags.

The Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR Roadster was successfully auctioned off at an auction in Las Vegas, but the proceeds turned out to be much more modest. The organizers of the auction were going to receive at least 13 million dollars, but the maximum bid was 10.2 million – that’s how much an unnamed buyer paid for the third copy of the CLK GTR roadster.
