Contrary to fears, the hatchback will remain in the BMW model line – the company intends to maintain a presence in all segments in which it is currently represented. So there will be a new generation of 1-Series, although it will have to wait at least a few more years. Carscoops suggests that the next “one” will debut in the second half of this decade and will become the most affordable electric car in the BMW range.

The portal publishes renderings by an independent artist who imagined what the next generation electric BMW 1-Series could look like. He depicted an electric car with a hatchback body and features of the futuristic Vision Neue Klasse concept. It has optics integrated into the “nostrils”, a “faceted” glazing line and cameras instead of exterior mirrors. Door handles are missing.

This model will have many competitors: the Audi A3 and Mercedes-Benz A-Class, as well as the premium models of the Stellantis concern – the next generation DS 4, the yet to be presented Lancia Delta and, possibly, the revived Alfa Romeo Giulietta.

As for the current BMW 1-Series, the model in its current form has been produced since 2019. In the near future, the “unit” will be restyled in the middle of its life cycle – the updated model has already appeared in spy shots during road tests. The debut of the restyled 1-Series is expected in the summer of 2024.
