According to the British Autocar, Aston Martin has already begun developing the next generation DBS, and with the change of generation, the model will retain a twelve-cylinder engine, as the head of the product and marketing strategy department, Alex Long, hinted to journalists. According to Long, “The V12 is synonymous with Aston Martin,” and customers expect the company to produce a powerful car with this engine. On the new DBS, the V12 output can exceed 800 horsepower.

The current Aston Martin DBS has been in service since 2018 and is equipped with a 715-horsepower 5.2-liter V12 biturbo engine. At the beginning of 2023, a “farewell” special series of the outgoing generation model was presented, it was called the DBS 770 Ultimate and the engine was boosted to 770 horsepower. But it’s no longer possible to buy such a car: all 499 copies of the Ultimate (300 coupes and 199 roadsters) were reserved before the premiere.

Aston Martin has not yet officially announced that there will be a new generation of the DBS, but the model is apparently already in development – a hint was contained in the words of Alex Long, who said that “Aston Martin will always have a flagship model.” It is expected that the next DBS will differ from both the current model and the yet-unveiled updated Vantage.

Earlier it became known that Aston Martin, although it remains an ultra-luxury British brand, does not set itself the task of competing with Rolls-Royce and Bentley. For example, the company does not intend to introduce a sedan into the model line, since it does not see any prospects for such a model. Aston Martin’s market niche has historically been in the GT segment.

Despite the fact that the automaker is in no hurry to abandon cars with internal combustion engines, the trend towards electrification has not bypassed it. Aston Martin already has the hybrid hypercar Aston Martin Valkyrie in its arsenal, and the mid-engine rechargeable hybrid Aston Martin Valhalla will soon appear – this model is in the final stretch of development and is preparing for driving tests. The start of serial production of Valhalla is scheduled for early 2024.
