It was called Yue Xiang Zhi Neng or Sharing Intelligence, writes Market Watch with reference to a statement from Dongfeng. Under this brand, the auto giant plans to produce cars with its own autonomous driving systems. An innovative cockpit with wide integration capabilities has also been announced for them: it can be “friended” with mobile phones, a smart home and cloud services.

Sharing Intelligence cars will use AI to make various decisions – related to both driving and other functions. Dongfeng has not yet announced any other details, as well as the timing of the appearance of the first “smart” models.

At the same time, Dongfeng launched another brand for new energy vehicles, also known as NEV, or new-energy vehicle, which is how electric cars and rechargeable hybrids are called in China. The name of the brand has not been disclosed, but plans for it are ambitious: over the next five years, 21 passenger cars and another 17 commercial vehicles will be produced under it. By 2025, Dongfeng wants to sell more than a million of its NEVs.

More recently, two more new brands under the Dongfeng umbrella were announced. The first, eπ, should release advanced models with modern electronics and a cloud-based battery thermal management system. The second, Nammi, targets low-cost electric cars with a solid-state battery and in-wheel motors.

Meanwhile, Chinese cars have surpassed European ones in the ranking of the most “smart”. The Chinese branch of JD Power released an annual study in which Nio took the lead, while China’s Li Auto and Xpeng overtook Mercedes-Benz and BMW.
