The press service of the Chinese corporation shared pictures of the interior and introduced journalists to the pre-production SUV. From the inside, the Song L is designed in the spirit of other BYD electric vehicles: minimalistic design, floating screens of the virtual “tidy” and touchscreen media system, several hardware keys, solid finishing materials. At the start of sales, versions with rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive are expected.
Features of the BYD Song L interior include a steering wheel without touch buttons, an interesting design of central air ducts, seats with integrated headrests and an electric front right seat on the side for easy rear adjustments. Although the new product seems compact, in reality the dimensions are impressive: length 4.85 meters, wheelbase – 2.93 meters.

In terms of exterior design, there are no revelations: BYD relied on a streamlined body without deliberately aggressive body kits. Judging by the catalog, three versions are being prepared with a power reserve of 550 km, 602 km or 662 km according to the WLTC standard, but there will be two traction batteries: 71 or 82 kilowatt-hours.

The base Song L is likely to have a rear-mounted electric motor producing 313 horsepower, while the top version will have an all-wheel drive dual-motor powertrain with a peak output of 517 horsepower. BYD plans to confirm the specifications and provide details about configurations and prices by the end of the year.
There are six BYD hybrids and electric cars in the top ten best-selling models on the Chinese market, and the new model will only strengthen the position of the auto giant. By the end of the year, the Chinese corporation can overtake Tesla and become the sole leader in the segment of cars without internal combustion engines.
