Screenshots of a video were circulated on Chinese social networks, showing a promising SUV of the subsidiary brand Fang Cheng Bao (FCB) without camouflage. An SUV with the index “3” will be a “pure” electric vehicle, distinguished by a dual-motor power plant and a BYD battery. The new product will be more compact, simpler and cheaper than Leopard 5, the expected price is 200-300 thousand yuan (27-41 thousand dollars).

The first-born of the premium brand Fang Cheng Bao is an SUV with the index “5”, which is about to enter the Chinese market. The developers call its rival the Mercedes-AMG G 63. The reference for the Fang Cheng Bao 3 has not yet been determined, but journalists from the Middle Kingdom say that the model will be slightly larger than the 4.45-meter BYD Yuan Plus crossover.

The key difference between the “three” and the “five” is the power plant without a gasoline extender engine. It is also likely that the more compact model will have a monocoque body, although this fact has not been confirmed. Judging by the leaked photographs, BYD relied on an extravagant design with embossed wheel arches, a solid plastic body kit and a powerful spare tire case on the fifth door. Outside of asphalt, the Fang Cheng Bao 3 will benefit from small overhangs, large wheels and solid suspension travel.

The BYD concern dominates the Chinese car market: the top ten best-selling models on the Chinese market include five to seven hybrids and electric cars of this brand. The plan of the “premium” Fang Cheng Bao brand includes three SUVs during 2024: in addition to the “five” and “three”, a flagship “eight” with a hybrid system is expected.
