The Autocar India portal publishes fresh spy photos of the next Patrol, codenamed Y63, which is expected to premiere in the coming months. Journalists report that with the change of generation, the model will add luxury, so that it will be able to compete with the Toyota Land Cruiser 300. Nissan itself promises that the new Patrol will surpass its predecessor “in all respects.”

Judging by the spy photos, the Patrol will noticeably change in terms of exterior design, but will retain its overall proportions and recognizable silhouette. The rear of the SUV will become more angular; the hood line, on the contrary, looks smoother. You can also see the C-shaped daytime running lights and tapered LED headlights inspired by the Infiniti QX Monograph Concept.

The Nissan Patrol will follow the example of the Toyota Land Cruiser 300 and abandon the 5.6-liter V8 petrol engine in favor of a more powerful 3.5-liter twin-turbo six. The Patrol Y63 will not have a diesel engine, but the appearance of a hybrid version is quite possible – Nissan has a suitable installation. At the same time, the automaker promises to maintain and even increase the off-road qualities of the model, as well as make it more modern. As for the gearbox, then, with a high degree of probability, the SUV will get a nine-speed automatic.

In North America, the model will be sold under the name Nissan Armada. In parallel with it, Americans will also be offered a luxury SUV on the same platform from Infiniti – the new QX80, the harbinger of which was the aforementioned QX Monograph.
