As Rossiyskaya Gazeta found out, from October the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant will begin producing the Profi with a modified transmission: the model will be equipped with special gearbox dampers, which will minimize vibrations of the levers and increase the overall level of acoustic comfort in the cabin. Later, a similar update will affect the all-wheel drive version of the model. Moreover, the improvement will not affect the price of “Profi”, which as of the end of September costs from 1.6 million rubles.
The “Pro” model, which has been in service since 2017, is available in versions with rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, with a single and double cab, as well as with a cargo platform of different capacities. Various options for superstructures are also offered – from a manufactured goods van to a refrigerator.
Since 2023, UAZ cars, including the Profi, are sold with no alternative “mechanics” from the Chinese company BAIC, and the French Punch automatic transmission and the South Korean “mechanics” Dymos are no longer installed on them. There is only one engine – a 2.7-liter ZMZ Pro unit with a capacity of 149 horsepower.
The improvement that the “Pro” will undergo was previously given to the “Patriot” and the pickup truck. In the Base Icarus trim levels with the Limited package, they are equipped with special dampers for the gearbox and transfer case levers.
At the end of August, the Sollers group opened a Product Development Center on the basis of the Idea innovation technology park in Kazan. At the same time, it became known that the Center would modernize the UAZ model range, localize and develop new technological solutions, including for electric cars. During the upcoming update for the Patriot, a diesel engine will be offered, this will happen during 2024.
