Italian law enforcement agencies use official cars of national brands, including Alfa Romeo. Several models serve in various law enforcement agencies, and in 2023, the State Police received the Tonale compact crossover. The first cars were handed over at a ceremony, and in total, by the end of the first half of 2024, the Italian State Police will receive 850 copies of Alfa Romeo Tonale Pantera.

A hybrid modification with a 1.5-liter gasoline engine producing 160 hp has become a police special version. combined with a 20-horsepower 48-volt electric motor integrated into a 7-speed robotic gearbox and front-wheel drive.

In this regard, the Panther is no different from the civilian versions of the Tonale, but specific modifications include the installation of a radio communication system, a set of flashing lights and strobes, as well as a special livery in blue and white with the Italian tricolor.

Some kind of “ballistic and fragmentation protection for the interior” is also stated, but in the photographs you can only see the armored windshield. The Tonale was the first crossover in the service of the State Police, which has been using Alfa Romeo models since the 1950s – it all started with the Super TI Speciale 1900, followed by the Giulietta 1300 and Giulia Super 1600, and then the 33, 155, 159 and Giulia.
